Bad Capacitors on Macintosh Classic II

Not only do these bad capacitors become short or lose their electrical characteristics: some of them release even acid, that can corrode the motherboard! This is the case of old Macintosh, like this Classic II here, on which we’re trying an extreme recovery…

As you can see, the acid leaked to this chip, shorting some pin and corroding them.

A restorarion is made washing the board, changing every electrolytic capacitor *(the metal capacitors that you see in the picture above) and the resoldering of corroded pins. If there are no broken traces, maybe we can save this piece! Keep you finger crossed… 🙂
